OLED True Black & Uniformity
Pure black to confirm pixel shutoff, plus 1%–20% gray fields that expose banding, dirty screen effect, and mura.
Open source • No install • No tracking
Full-screen test patterns for OLED true black, dead pixels, motion clarity, backlight bleed, gamma, and banding — rendered pixel-for-pixel on a canvas, right in your browser.
Why PanelProbe
Test videos are compressed, which smears near-black detail and adds banding. PanelProbe draws every pattern directly to a canvas mapped 1:1 to your device pixels.
Pure black to confirm pixel shutoff, plus 1%–20% gray fields that expose banding, dirty screen effect, and mura.
Moving targets rendered at your display’s refresh rate — 60 Hz to 500 Hz+ — at 120 to 1440 px/s to reveal ghosting and overdrive halos.
Line-dither gamma patches from 1.8 to 2.6, black and white clipping grids, a 32-step grayscale, and banding ramps.
High-contrast text, RGB/BGR subpixel stripes, and 1px gratings to spot color fringing on QD-OLED and WOLED, scaling blur, and moiré.
Near-black fields with corner markers to separate fixed backlight bleed from angle-dependent IPS glow, plus color quadrants for off-axis shift.
Swipe between tests, check status-bar burn-in, visualize PWM flicker through a camera, and map dead touch zones on a 60-cell grid.
Before the Return Window Closes
Run these checks in a dim room during your retailer’s return period. The studio’s Guided Wizard walks you through them and produces a printable report.
Open 1 in fullscreen. Look for light at the edges, and move your head to tell IPS glow from bleed.
Open 3 and click through each solid color. Every subpixel should light up evenly.
Open 2 at 2%–5%. Look for vertical stripes or cloudy patches.
Check text edges on 5, then follow the UFO on 7 for halos or dark trails.

Questions
Video codecs discard subtle near-black detail and introduce banding and blocking — exactly the artifacts you are trying to find. Canvas patterns are drawn losslessly at your device’s native resolution.
Only approximately. Browsers report a color depth (usually 24 bits, i.e. 8 bits per channel) and whether the output is wide-gamut or HDR. That describes the signal path, not the panel itself, so PanelProbe labels these values as browser-reported.
Enable 1:1 pixel mapping and view it in fullscreen. Each tile surrounds a solid gray patch with fine black/white lines. Step back or squint: the patch that blends into its surround matches your display’s gamma. Most content targets 2.2.
No. It is a static site with no analytics, cookies, or third-party requests — fonts included. Preferences such as theme and mute are saved in your browser’s local storage.
Some stress tests flash rapidly. The studio shows a warning before use, the strobe test is excluded from Test All, and flashing tests stop automatically. If you are photosensitive, avoid the Stress category.
Sometimes it helps a stuck LCD subpixel that is lit or partially responsive. A pixel that stays completely dark is usually dead and cannot be revived by software — check your warranty’s dead-pixel policy.
